Course Overview

The purpose of this course is to provide one of the requirements for becoming a Community Group Facilitator of Project New Day. Three integral aspects of this program are coaching, psychedelic therapy, and community. Recovery plans require subsequent backing from the community, particularly for psychedelic-aided initiatives, in order to integrate successful thought patterns into their lives. To create this course, Professor Ken Kinter of Rutgers University Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences donated four instructional videos to Project New Day.

Group Facilitation Part One - Before the Group Starts
The first in a series of four on group facilitation covers the functions and different types of groups, along with various tasks in preparing to run a group, including planning exercises.
Group Facilitation Part Two - Game On!
The second lesson in a series of four videos is about group facilitation and should only be viewed after the first video. This video discusses group dynamics, stages of a group and their tasks, group focus, "cutting off" and "drawing out," various tools for dealing with problem situations, and timing issues.
Group Facilitation Part Three - Social Skills for People with Severe Persistent Mental Illness
The third lesson in the series of four videos on Social Skills Groups and focuses more specifically on social skills groups. The training includes how they can help people with mental illness and addictions. It focuses on group planning, group techniques, tailoring groups to individual needs, special populations, and documentation.
Group Facilitation Part Four - Legal, Ethical, Cultural, and Moral Aspects

The fourth lesson in a series of four videos is about group facilitation. It addresses the legal, ethical, cultural, and moral aspects of group facilitation and the quandaries that can arise from them, particularly when they are not in alignment with each other.
